Lex has an addiction

The first thing out of Lexyn's mouth when she wakes up is "un cracker.....un C-H-E-E-T-O!" Thanks to her daddy she now knows what Cheetos are, and she LOVES them! She asks for them only about 25 times a day.

Saturday she woke up before her "sissy" so daddy gave her a treat.......the bag of Cheetos. I did make sure the bag was almost empty; it had about 20 Cheetos left in it and she did finish them off! Cheetos are healthy aren't they? They are made of cheese!

See no Evil

We got great news Friday at the girls eye exams! They were diagnosed with stage 3 retinopathy at 4 weeks old. Due to being born so early, their retinas didn't completely attach. For the first 5 months of their lives, they had monthly eye checks to monitor the progress. At 5 months old they were released but referred to a pediatric ophthalmologist at 8 months old. Last March, at their first ophthalmologist appointment we were told they were -4 far sided. The doctor said that is common for infants and toddlers because their eyes aren't fully developed. She said they just see past it, but if it gets to -6 far side they would need glasses to help them. However, she released them to yearly exams. This past Friday the girls eyes were dilated again at their yearly exam, only this time the doctor said, "oh yay... great...looks good." After looking at them she explained to me that they had gone from -4 far sided to -.5 far sided. They are almost at perfect 20/20 vision! We are so greatful for that report since the odds for preemies born before 32 weeks is very poor and most need some sort of short term or long term treatment. She did say she wanted them to stay on yearly exams because they could eventually go past the 20/20 and start turning near sided. For now we are pleased and just pray that next year nothing has changed.





When we checked out the nurse gave the girls sunglasses, or whatever you want to call those huge tented plastic things. She said not to worry about it if they didn't wear them but to try when we went outside. To my surprise, Lexyn wore them and didn't even take them off. She thought she was cool or something as she kept laughing at herself and turning her head proudly.
She is a mess!

Blog friend to real life friends

After many months of commenting, chatting, texting and talking on the phone together; Liz and I finally got to meet each other in real life!!!! It was a long awaited meeting. We had been planning many different ways to get together and finally it all worked out. When she and Chris showed up at our house Friday night, there was not a moment of awkwardness. It was like we had hung out together forever. We stayed up late after putting the girls down, chatting and swapping stories, this time including our husbands. After talking we realized that our husbands and other family members thought we were a little crazy to be meeting someone we met online, but they backed us up and both husbands played along. It only took a few hours before they were comfortable and friends as well, and laughing with us at comments from our parents and friends as we told them we would be hanging out with blog friends. But despite everyone elses thoughts and worries, we finally got together and had a great time.



Saturday morning we gave Kinley and Madelyn their birthday present. We weren't able to make their first birthday party so we celebrated all over again! Liz also brought my girls some candy and treat bags from their party. Too sweet, but I think I have eaten most of it! Thanks a lot Liz!!!

Kinley and Madelyn were constantly stilling Lexyn and Brittyn's sippy cups. Liz was hoping they would see the big girls drinking from a cup and want to be like them. I think it ended up working out.

Kinley loved Lex and Britt's chairs. She kept climbing up in them and sitting down like she had done it for years. Sweet sweet girl!




Saturday afternoon it was so nice outside that we took a walk down to our neighborhood park to get out of the house and get some fresh air. Ben blew bubbles with the girls. K & M were fascinated with the bubbles. Liz was pretty sure it was their first time to see them.

Brittyn enjoyed the company of having other kiddos around. She sat down and played bubbles with them.

Chris was snuggling and Lexyn wanted in on the action. She loved having Chris and Liz around. She was constantly at their side.

Kinley had watched my girls push their chairs backwards and then climb up and stand on them. She decided she wanted to give it a try too.

And she succeeded! Big girl!!!!

This is a horrible picture, but sadly it is the only picture of me with either of the Tarrant girls. If you can only imagine having 4 one year olds in one house keeps everyone on their feet and busy, hence me not being in any other photos!

Sweet Madelyn

We had dressed our girls to match and coordinate for church Sunday morning. We then wanted to give it a shot at getting their picture together. This is as good as it gets, but we are pleased with 4 faces looking at the camera.

Lexyn and Brittyn played the mommy role several times. It was so cute to watch them feed M & K cheerios. They were so sweet.

When it came time for Chris and Liz and the girls to head home, Lexyn and Brittyn had to make sure they got their "Bye-Bye" kisses in. They didn't really understand that the babies were leaving for good so when they got up from their nap, they kept saying "whes baby, whes baby". So sweet. They missed them already only after being gone for 2 short hours.

Saturday night we put all 4 girls to bed and then got to enjoy a kid free dinner while my mom stayed at the house with them. She was a brave Gamma as she volunteered for that job, although they were all in bed. It was so nice to be able to eat dinner with another couple and not have to juggle fussy inpatient kids. Thanks mom!

We had a great visit Chris and Liz, and we hated to see it end. Thanks so much for making the trip here. We miss you guys already and are looking forward to our next meet.

Build-A-Bear party

Last week we took the girls to a friends 2nd birthday party at Build-A-Bear in the mall. The place was crazy but we still managed to build a bear and a dog and get them dressed. Jadyn's mom chose to do a Build-A-Bear party because Jadyn was going to be giving up her paci's and she heard of a neat idea of putting the paci's in the bear before stuffing it. It was cute and sad watching her stuff her paci's inside her dog. She kept grabbing them and sticking them in her mouth for one last suck, and when it came time to stuff in the last one she put up a fight. Needless to say, she wasn't really all for putting her paci's in her dog.

Even though our girls were a little young and didn't understand much about it, they had a good time stepping on the pedal and picking up all the clothes.

Under the Weather???

My sweet little Brittyn was a little under the weather today. Of course you can't tell by these pictures, and other than a little fussiness and vomiting, I wouldn't have been able to tell either.

She figured out how to slide down on her belly...

Valentine's Day

We had a special Valentine's Day enjoying our sweet girlies. We celebrated on Saturday since we would have church on Sunday. When daddy come home Saturday morning, he brought balloons for the girls and flowers from me, as well as donuts for all of us. The girls LOVE "baooons", and ran around with them for a good 20 minutes.








Then the girls gave daddy their card to him.





I got the girls a cute card and some marshmallow candy.

That afternoon Aunt Kelly came over with a big basket for each. They had so much fun digging through everything. Of course they had their own basket, but Lexyn had to make sure Brittyn's wasn't better! Both of their baskets had lots of marshmallow candy and suckers, chocolate, 2 new sippy cups, a new Barney DVD, a hat for summer time, a cute teddy bear, no spill bubbles, My first Baby Alive doll, and a new baby doll stroller. Aunt Kelly always gets carried away, but the girls don't mind a bit. They are a little spoiled!

I think Lexyn liked her new teddy bear.

That evening we left the girls in good hands and headed out for a double date at Shogun's Japanese Steakhouse. We had a great meal, and enjoyed our dinner without juggling kiddos.
