Lexyn was the only one that would cooperate, if that is surprising! Brittyn would say it but not for the camera, and NOT sitting down!

Lexyn swimming 6/28/10
This was only the second time that Lexyn had been swimming with her floaties on. The first time she hated them and only wore them long enough to jump of the ladder one time. This time once her Gamma told her she HAD to wear them, she quickly figured out that she could kick her legs and get all over the pool by herself. She now LOVES to swim! Brittyn wanted to be as independent as her sissy but it took her a few more days to catch on to the kicking her legs part. She would throw a fit, like in the video, to get down in the water by herself but then would get upset because she would get water in her mouth from not kicking her legs to help her stay up straight. It didn't take her many more days to catch on so I will post a video of her swimming like a fish in a few days. Until then, we will be staying cool in this 100 degree weather by enjoying our new pool!

The final transition from baby to toddler
Wednesday June 23rd, the girls pushed me into finally turning their cribs into toddler beds. About a month ago Brittyn had ripped her tent so much that it was non fixable, and caused the zipped to brake. We left the tent up on her bed hoping that she knew the boundaries and wouldn't climb out. She did great and never attempted to climb out; that was until Lexyn showed her it could be done!
I woke up to lots of giggling and talking over the monitor last Wednesday. I walked in to the girls room and found that Lexyn had ripped a hole in the side of her tent, climbed out, and then climbed into Brittyn's bed. They were having a great time "tic-tic-ticing" each other. So, when I layed the girls down for their nap, I told Lexyn to stay in her bed. I walked in their room just a few minutes after laying them down and found that Lexyn was in her bed but Brittyn was climbing into Lexyn's. Thanks Lex for making Brittyn aware that she could climb out of her crib! I finally came to the realization that this wasn't going to be easy but that I should transition their beds and begin teaching them to stay in their big girl beds!
Wednesday when we layed the girls down for the night, we talked up the fact that they were sleeping in big girl beds. The first few nights and nap times were awesome, resulting in maybe one or two spankings total for getting out of their beds. At that point I couldn't believe I had waited so long to transition them, this was obviously going to be easier than expected. Well, I guess the new funness had worn off because tonight it took an hour of spanking and putting Brittyn back in bed before she finally gave it up. Hopefully tonight was just a bad night and not the beginning to a new habit.
It makes me sad to think that we just made the final transition from babies to big girls; no more diapers, bottles, or cribs. But we are enjoying this big girl stage too, minus all the 2 year old fits!

Ben, I am so glad I am on this parenting journey with you. You are a big help. I enjoy watching you interact with them and doing all kinds of crazy fun things with them that only their daddy would do! You are the best daddy to our girls, I couldn't have asked for a better one!

Happy Anniversary Callie and Zach!
Zach and Callie you made it through the first year! I was always told it would be a rough year because you are both learning to live with each other, but Ben and I didn't really agree. Our first year was great with very few disagreements. I think yal could say the same. I believe God knew what he was doing when he allowed yal to meet.
Zach, we love that Callie brought you into the family. Ben likes that yal get to hang out doing what you and he loves most, hunting and fishing. I really like that you love our kids. You are hands on with them, and jumped right in on spoiling them when you can.

Fun, Busy Weekend
We had a great weekend although it was a little busy with the girls birthday party being Saturday. However, Chris and Liz drove in Thursday night and they were a huge help with getting everything ready; plus they were great company.
Chris and Liz, thanks so much for all you did, I couldn't have done it all without you. I also believe you should look into that house next door, we miss you so much!
Friday my husband only worked half of the day. When he got home, he and Chris went to pick up the slide. They brought it home and immediately set it up. Liz and I got a kick out of watching them set it up because it was so heavy they were really struggling! Cheap entertainment!!!
As soon as it was set up we had to give it some test runs. Daddy and Lexyn were up first.
Brittyn and Kinley had fun playing on the steps.
After the party we put the girls in their swimsuits to let them play with their new water table. It was so hot out, so the 4 girlies enjoyed some yummy Popsicles.
This was the first time the Tarrant girls had ever eaten a Popsicle. They didn't waste a drop so I think they really liked it.
Sweet Madelyn decided her mommy needs to buy her some of these when she get home!

Sweet girls, all buddies now. Every morning since the Tarrant's left, my girls get up and immediately ask "where's babies?"

We decided to let the girls dig into their monkey cakes with a spoon. They really enjoyed it, constantly saying "I eat cake."
We hooked up the water hose to the slide, because it was made to be a water slide. Lexyn and I didn't wait around, we jumped right on. She had so much fun.

Because Liz and I have great husbands, they let us go out that night. We laid out the girls pajamas and then took our showers and got dressed to head out. We went to Little Rock and ate at a Japanese steakhouse and then did some shopping. We had a great time eating along and not having to mess with kids. Thanks so much Chris and Ben.
Sunday we played outside in the water again, and cooled down with Popsicles again.
Sweet Madelyn decided her mommy needs to buy her some of these when she get home!
Lexyn had a blast pushing the girls in the swings, or she thought that got her closer to stealing their Popsicles!

We had a great time, and hated to see it end. Blog world is so neat the way it gives us a chance to meet people we probably would have never ran into. I am so glad I came across Liz's blog and have been able to hang out with her and her sweet family in real life!

Party Decorations
A few months ago when I started thinking about what to do for the girls 2nd birthday party, I came across some monkey decorations. I immediately decided that since I have 2 monkeys that theme was very fitting. With lots of help and ideas from Liz we had a monkey party with the colors being hot pink, bright yellow, and bright aqua blue. I had lots of fun making things for the party. A huge thanks to Liz for making the cute birthday banner, and for throwing in her ideas to help perfect mine!

2nd Birthday Party
Saturday we celebrated the girls birthday with a fun monkey party. It was lots of fun but it was HOT! We had a big 18 foot blow up slide, and a jump house, and the girls swing set for everyone to play on. We served grilled hot dogs and chex mix. Then everyone had fun eating the best cake and making their own banana splits, because what monkey doesn't like bananas! The girls got to play with 19 of their best friends. I think there was about 60 friend and family, including the adults, that came to celebrate and play with our 2 year old miracles. My girls are definitely loved.

We had some special friends that drove from Texas to celebrate with us. Chris and Liz and their 16 month old twin girls came in Thursday night and spent the weekend with us. Liz helped me so much by decorating and pulling the party together. I am so glad they made the 6 hour drive to join in our fun. Thanks so much Liz for all your help, I couldn't have done it without you.

The girls were way overloaded with gifts from dress-up, to water toys, to baby dolls, to bath Barbie, to clothes and pj's, to colors and coloring books, to books, to golf clubs, to toy singing brooms, to money and so much more. We are blessed with two sweet miracles and lot of family and friends that love us all. Thanks so much to everyone that came, and for all the wonderful new toys.

One of the gifts the girls got was a tutu that their great aunt made. The girls got tons of dress up stuff; tiaras, tutu's, gloves, princess wands, bead necklaces, fairy wings, purses, make-up, and lots more.
They were INTO the opening presents. Everything Lexyn pulled out she would say "I want it open." They were very excited about all her new toys.
They even dug into the big bags together, putting their heads way inside to get to the bottom.
"Aunt" Kelly and "Uncle" Larry got the girls tricycles. They love them but can't quite reach both pedals so they get on and the shout ride.
