pot + water + 70 degrees + twin girls = FUN

The fun started out with bubbles, then they got creative/wasteful and decided that pouring the bubbles out on the ground instead of blowing them was even more fun. So I brought out a pot full of water and let them go to town. I intended for them to play in the water with their bubble wands and empty bubble bottles.


That is how it started out.....

But.....it didn't take long before they realized the fun was standing in the water!

And then the fun went a little further......standing in the water with no clothes!

Oh, the fun possibilities are endless when a pot, water, 70 degree weather and twin girls are involved!

Eating Good

Saturday evening we went out to eat at Olive Garden with my in-laws. It was the first time the girls have been to a "nicer" restaurant. They actually did pretty well, but did have to take a few walks around to calm down and get out of the high chair.


When we first got there, we were waiting outside. We sat the girls up on a flower bed where everyone else was sitting. They decided to climb into it and play with the rocks. Yes that is my girls in dresses, sandals, big bows, and playing in the rocks!

Brittyn found that eating bread sticks with Alfredo sauce was not only good; it was fun getting to do the dipping all by herself!

The girls ate really well that night. I guess we need to tell daddy to take us to Olive Garden more often, then we will all eat good!

Brittyn's Growth Chart Continued

Remember this post back on December 23, 2008? I showed my growth chart for Brittyn.

Well, 2 days ago, on March 21, 2010, we decided to measure Brittyn again, except this time Brittyn chose for herself to be measured! She is now old enough and big enough to climbed in the baby doll stroller, and in her own jabbering language get across to Brinlee that she wants her to push her around!
WOW, has my life changed right before my eyes, and way too quickly! Not only is my tiny daughter that could once pass as a baby doll in a baby doll stroller, 21 months old and weighing 19 pounds; but my small niece is now 4 years old with a sassy-mothering attitude, and can even tattle on her busy climbing 21 month old cousins!

The Brown's Pharmacy

After visiting the doctor today we brought the pharmacy home with us!

The girls have been sick with one thing or another since January. I have taken them in time after time and we keep seeing other doctors. They both have had a horrible cough since last Thursday, so bad at times they can't seem to catch their breath, and their runny noses are still as nasty as ever even after completing an antibiotic last week, and checking Lexyn's temp yesterday to find she was running 101.2; I called in and wanted an appointment with OUR doctor. Not to say the other doctors aren't good, but our doctor just knows our past better and he doesn't seem to use the wait it out trick. I am tired of waiting it out! So we got in with our doctor today; he listened to me, heard my complaints and concerns and then checked the girls over. He says they still have the sinus infection that they were diagnosed with 2 and half weeks ago, and they are having symptoms most likely from horrible allergies. He called in 5 drugs each. They are on Amoxicillin for 10 days to hopefully kick this sinus infection, Prednisiolone (oral steroid) for 4 days, Flovent steriod inhaler 2 puffs twice a day until June, Nasonex 1 squirt in each nostril daily to help with the allergies, and Albuteral inhaler only when needed for the wheezing and coughing attacks when they can't catch their breath. He said we should see great improvement by 2 weeks but if we don't see a good bit of improvement by the beginning of next week we are to go back in. I am so thankful for our doctor who doesn't take things lightly, and for insurance to cover this pharmacy of drugs we had to bring home!

I have heard bad things about steroids, particularly the Flovent inhaler, but I am willing to hold on through the hyperness if it gets us better! But hopefully we won't notice any extra hyperness or fits because we all know my girls don't need any extra help in that area! The girls were a little crazy at dinner tonight but they tend to get that way when we eat out or they are extra tired, and both were the case tonight.

They did get weighed today at the appointment and Lexyn seems to have lost about 6 or 7 ounces, but our doctor isn't concerned. At 21 and a half months old Lexyn weighs 19 pounds and 12.4 ounces; and Brittyn weighs 19 pounds and 2.7 ounce. Maybe by their second birthday they will have broke 20 pounds! They are small petite little girls, nothing wrong with that!

Brittyn What are You Doing?

To clarify, we do not let our girls jump from the furniture. Actually we don't usually even let them on the couch to help prevent falls. While I was videoing Lexyn tell her daddy what the animals were in a book; I see out of the corner of my eye that Brittyn was having some fun!

Also not really sure why I asked her a million times what she was doing. Ha! I guess I was trying to get her to say "jump" which she can!

Daffodils and Cute girls!

Today we went to Wye Mountain to the daffodil fields. This is the 32nd year that a little church has put on the daffodil festival. There are 7 acres of fields filled with daffodils. It is beautiful. They girls had a blast being let loose to just walk and run all over outside. Of course I have girls that hate the camera, so my favorite pics are usually the ones of them walking away from the camera, and when they hold hands.....that just melts my heart! We had a great time walking through daffodils for 2 hours with my mom and my friend from Alabama. It was also a plus that the weather today was gorgeous.

Problem Solved

The crib climbers are now "STUCK" as Brittyn would say!

My mother in-law ordered us the best gift imaginable, crib tents. We have been struggling for almost 3 months with the girls climbing out of their cribs and not going to sleep. They aren't ready for toddler cribs because they are immature and not comprehending when we say "stay in your bed or you get a spanking".

I have done lots of research on crib tents, and the most common one, Tots in Mind, wouldn't work with our cribs due to the back and sides not being straight across. Finally, I came across this site, and it is made to fit any crib. I read all the reviews and there weren't really any bad comments, so I knew this is what I wanted/needed. The problem was the money. They are $77 a piece and that was just a lot to spend on crib tents in my opinion. But my mother in-law thought the outcome would out weigh the price. And after one night, it does!
There was 3 minutes of fussing on and off from Lexyn when we first put the girls to bed, but then they laid down and went to sleep. We didn't have to stand there saying lay down for 45 minutes to an hour before they finally fell asleep, and there was no night escaping or 6:30 morning escaping. The girls even slept until 8:30 this morning! If I had known the results would be so GREAT, I would have invested in these crib tents 3 months ago! What a peaceful night my husband and I had!

5 Minutes of Play Dough Fun!

The girls experienced the fun of play dough a few days ago. I gave them one of their plastic play knives, a cookie cutter, and some pink play dough. They enjoyed squishing it, cutting it, rolling it into a ball, tearing it apart, smashing it flat, and for a quick second they might have enjoyed tasting it. There was plenty of temptation to eat it, but neither of them succeeded. Of course with my extremely active busy 21 month old's, the fun is short and sweet. It only lasted about 5 minutes before they were done and throwing it on the floor. But it was a fun 5 minutes, and it was 5 minutes of being contained in a chair that gave me a break from chasing them around the house, and pulling them off of dressers and book shelves. We will have to have 5 minutes of play dough fun more often!

Fresh air, suckers, and new Chairs

Sunday we were able to get some fresh air. It was very windy out, but the sun was shining and it was 60 degrees; nice jacket weather. We stayed out for over an hour. The girls enjoyed a sucker while sitting in their Bass Pro kiddie chairs. Aunt Kelly got the girls those chairs back in September. We got them out for the first time and the girls thought they were big stuff.

Gotta love closed front porches. We use our baby play yard gate to block the entrance opening. It works out great to keep the girls somewhat contained and safe from running towards the road, while being able to play outside with a little freedom. Although, I think the girls feel like they are in jail, especially when daddy is on the other side.

We are enjoying this weather, and can't wait for spring!

The Winner is...... the BATHTUB

Friday morning the girls were enjoying a bubble bath when Lexyn decided to stand up. We are repeatedly telling them to sit down in the tub but of course the stubborn toddler in them just ignores us. This time however, the outcome wasn't so great when she slipped and fell. On her way down, she hit the side of the tub. I couldn't tell exactly what hit I just knew it was something on her face but I was figuring her eye. I reached down to grab her up because she has been known to pass out when she is crying after getting hurt, and in that 5-10 seconds time her cheek bone was already blue and had a hard knot on it. I got her calmed down and then took a good look at her. She had just barely missed her eyeball. It looked horrible, and somewhat concerned me that it got such a hard knot so fast. I got her a teething ring out of the refrigerator to put on her eye; that lasted about a whole minute and then she was walking around putting her cold ring on her baby doll's eyes; and her rocking horse's eye, and even her sissy's eye.

I just thought it looked bad the day she did it! Now her entire eye is black and blue.

She lived through it, but didn't learn a thing. She was right back standing up over and over in the bathtub the next morning.
