Last week in the midst of the craziness of getting ready for the girls big 2 year old birthday party, we made a trip to the pediatrician for their 2 year old check-up. The girls got 2 shots, and their finger pricked. Brittyn was my brave little girl and never even cried during the finger prick. Lexyn however, my drama queen, screamed the entire time and even almost bit the nurses hand while she was squeezing her finger to get the blood out. The doctor said they looked good. He would like them to be bigger, but for the first time ever, he finally said, "we have worried about their weight forever, and I just think they are going to be small petite girls." That was a relief to hear. He did even mention that he realizes they are extremely busy, which is playing a role in their weight gain. He was very pleased with the development, and said they talk great for their age. He was also impressed that they are already potty trained. Overall it was a good appointment with good results and he said unless they are sick they don't have to be seen again until they are 3. However we go back in 6 months for their second Hepatitis shot, and weight checks.
Lexyn -- weight: 20 pounds and 8 ounces; height: 33.5 inches
Brittyn -- weight: 19 pounds and 4 ounces; height: 32.5 inches
The doctor also looked at Brittyn's toe and said it didn't look infected but thought she would lose some of the skin flap. He said it wasn't healed yet, and that the forth toe did get cut down to the tissue not just the skin. He called in a prescription strength antibiotic ointment and said to continue wrapping it for Britt's comfort.

We made it to 2
We made it past our 2nd birthday, just by 2 days, before we made our first trip to the ER.
Poor Brittyn was on a potty Friday night that was taller than any potty she normally sits on. When she hopped off, she fell, and her feet went behind her. This potty just so happened to have a separated crack in the porcelain base. She sliced her 3rd and 4th toes on her right foot open on that crack. I looked down at the floor a few seconds later and realized she was pouring blood for somewhere. I hollered for Ben while searching for where the blood was coming from. We soon realized her toes were cut. Ben grabbed some paper towels to put pressure on them but the blood soaked through. In the meantime Brittyn is screaming and sweating from being in so much pain. After about 30 minutes or so we got her calmed down and were able to get a good look at her toes. That is when we realized they weren't just cut, they were sliced pretty deep. Her 4th toe actually was sliced from the tip of her toe nail all the way to the bottom of her toe and was just barely attached. Because we couldn't get it to stop bleeding and it was too thick of a skin flap to just cut off, we loaded the girls up and headed to the ER. After waiting 2 hours in the ER before being seen by a doctor, we had the bleeding almost stopped. The doctor said that since it was cut at her toe nail they wouldn't be able to stitch it and she felt that since the was cut so thick that the skin would reattach so they glued 2 steri strips to hold it closed. Then they put gauze covering it and bandaged it up past her ankle. We were told to leave it on there until Sunday evening. If it looks like it is beginning to heal together we can leave it off and just keep a band-aid on it. For some reason I don't think she will leave a band-aid on, but we will see. We were instructed to keep her out of the water and not to let her outside to play for 4 or 5 days. That is the part I am concerned about. If only they knew how challenging that would be! We live outside and in the water these days. But we don't want to end up with an infection so we will follow the instructions, and pray for a fast healing! This morning she was favoring it a lot, and really wouldn't walk much. When she did walk on it she was crying, but after some Motrin, a snack, and a nap....she is back to running all over the place. She is sure to let us know when she bumps it though. Bless her heart, it makes me hurt just looking at it, but she was such a trooper. The only real crying she did was the first 30 minutes and then once we got to the ER she only cried when the nurse was cleaning her toes. She did GREAT!
It was just a freak accident that isn't really anyone's fault, but man it sure makes this momma feel bad! I will be making sure she doesn't hop off the potty on her own anymore.

2nd Birthday
We are just now getting settled and back into our routine after the girls birthday. It was a fun and special day. This post is all about pictures! It's a picture overload to finish up the story.

2 turn 2
It has been a big day. We have enjoyed celebrating these two girlies 2nd Birthday!
The wonderful 2's showed up really early this morning with Lexyn's tired stubbornness and fits!
Daddy was off work to help make the day special. We took the girls to The WonderPlace in Little Rock. Brittyn had the best time at the gigantic water table.
After everyone got out of church my parents and Aunt Kelly and Larry came over bearing gifts. Aunt Kelly got the girls some dress-up shoes, and Lexyn had the best time putting them on and walking around.
After opening some gifts, we ended the evening enjoying some ice cream cake.
It was a great day! Happy 2nd Birthday sweet Angels!!!
But for now I really need some rest. We stayed busy having a lot of fun with the birthday girls, and actually didn't get them into bed until after 10:15. I will upload my pictures and get a post going sometime tomorrow.

On Your 2nd Birthday....
Lexyn and Brittyn,
Is today really your 2nd birthday? Has 2 years really gone by? I can't believe it, time is going way to fast!
I have been thinking about the day my water broke with you Lexyn. It was quite early, 11 weeks to be exact. I was very shocked, and not really sure what to do except panic. We quickly packed our bags, well, daddy and I packed my bag. Daddy was so caught up in the panic and excitement that he failed to pack himself anything. Then we headed towards the hospital. I remember taking several different drugs to help stop labor, but you were just as strong willed then as you are now; you were ready to make your entrance.
It was a long rough 6 weeks that we traveled back and forth to the hospital daily. But when the day came to bring you both home together, we were overjoyed. We had waited several years to become a family instead of just a couple and to bring our baby into our home. Little did we know that God had plans for us to bring 2 babies home at once. But we wouldn't change that for anything now.
It has been a blast raising you both together at the same time. It has also been hard. Over the past 2 years I have learned several things from the two of you. I have learned to enjoy every minute of life because once that minute is gone you can't get it back. I have learned that some things just have to wait. I have to prioritise and if it isn't top priority or all about you I have learned to put it off. You are only little once and I want to enjoy your every stages of life. I have learned, and am learning, that an OCD clean house won't always work with toddlers. I have learned that it is ok for Barney to take over my TV! I have learned when my patience wears out to dig deeper and find more, to take another deep breath and then sit in the floor because your hugs and kisses will give me the extra boost that I need. There is nothing like your sweet little arms wrapping around my neck and squeezing big. I learned to enjoy my alone time. I learned that potty training can be done in 3 days even with multiples, but I also learned that it was the hardest parenting thing I have had to do. And, I learned that being called "mommy" is one of the best things in the world!
You both also learned lots this past year and hit many big milestones from beginning to walk, to talking, to saying sentences and phrases. You gave up the bottle, and drink from a sippy cup to drinking from a straw to now drinking water from a non covered cup; and you are doing very well at it I might add. You have learned how to hold a spoon and feed yourself although that still brings quite a mess. You can hold a crayon and color pictures. You can make all the animal noises. You can climb out of your crib; onto a chair; onto a table; onto a filing cabinet; onto a counter; up in your tree house. You wear big girl panties and go potty in a big girl potty. You learned that when you can't see sissy, to ask "where's sissy?" And you learned that with twins all things come in "Two's"!!!
Over the past year you got to visit several new places. You saw the white sandy beaches of Florida, and had a blast running and digging in it. You rode on your first plane ride. It was quite an adventure to say the least but we survived. You met some of your distant cousins and spent the night in Great Grandma Beggs home. You also spent your first night away from mommy and daddy. I think you both did better than we did!
I am wiping away tears as I walk down memory lane. But the tears are tears of joy and greatfulness because God has given me the best 2 years of my life. I am thankful he chose your daddy and me to be your parents. I pray daily for you, and for the guidance to raise you in HIS name. I want you both to grow up loving God and living for him!
Today, on your 2nd birthday, I want you to know that you have beyond blessed me already. I can't wait to see what God has in store of us as a family and for you as my 2 year old daughters this next year.

Memorial Day 2010
Thanks to all those who have served and those who are currently serving for our country. A special thanks to my husband!
We had a fun relaxing Memorial Day at home enjoying some family time. My mom brought my niece over and the 3 girls played outside for over 3 hours. They had a blast swinging, swimming, running, sliding, and eating fudgesicles. I love days at home when my hubby is there to play and help out as well.
